Nursing Assistant - Long Term Care (Evening Class)

The purpose of this program is to prepare students for employment as nursing assistant/nurse aides in nursing homes, or to provide supplemental training for persons previously, or currently employed in these occupations. Successful completion of the program prepares the student for certification and employment as a Nursing Assistant after passing a certification exam in accordance with Florida Statute 464.

NOTE: This Nursing Assistant program is the first segment of the Patient Care Assistant program at Cape Coral Technical College.

The content includes, but is not limited to bathing, feeding, dressing, moving and lifting, comfort and safety, communication and human relations, legal and ethical responsibilities, infection control, personal care and elimination, geriatric care, restorative activities, and employability skills.

Employment Outlook: Excellent. Program completers will have their choice of positions in many nursing homes, rehabilitation centers, areas hospitals, and ALF's (Assisted Living Facilities: extended care centers). Students completing the program will be eligible to take the Florida State Certification Exam.

All applicants are required to complete a drug screen and Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) background screen prior to admission.
